Forgive me of my ignorance but, I'm looking at getting a touring bike and replacing my beloved Dyna and I was wondering what year they started to put the six speed in the touring bikes standard, was it '06?
Just trying to decide how old or new to look for my new garbage wagon. I'm not so concerned about getting the TC88 because I would do a 95" kit with some Andrews 37G's so I'm wondering if the HD 6 speed is worthgetting anewer bike over a bike a few years older with low miles at a good price.
Thanks for any input.
Jason
If you do not do interstates-high speed riding then the 6 speed will not be needed. The 5 speed can cruise up to 75 at 3,400 rpms+- but the 6 speed does 80 at 2,900 rpms.
I really like the 6 speed. I do not do much 80 mph but at 70 mph, which is my best cruising speed, it is only turning 2,500 rpms. I get around 44 mpg with plenty of power for passing.
Hope this helps
