I own a 2005 Ultra with a six speed I installed myself and I am selling it because I bought a SERK. This baby has 112 hp and 125 lbs of torque. I have invested over $40000 in this bike

With all the apparent problems HD was having with the new 6 speed I wouldn't.
some claims lots of problems others say bull.
Before you buy it, test ride it a day first. And ride it hard and long.
HD says it is the riders fault for the whine and clang and clunks.
But yet they came out with the IDS standard on the 08's and it will retrofit to the 07's (1st year of 6 speed touring).
Then they included it on the "elbow grease" campaign for installation.
Trying to help you all out a "little" for their screw up.
They're still refusing to openly admit a "problem" exists .
Go back a year or two to 04 or 05 or 06. Money saved can be used to upgrade engine and get a screaming eagle 6 speed or a baker.

Just have to balance that last one out a little.

If you want to use the stock engine control system on your bagger and have closed loop operation then you'll need an '07 or newer.

The apparent problems with the 6-speed aren't all that widespread and it has yet to be proven, through two full model years of use in the Dynas and one in the Touring family, that there actually are any problems. The different configuration of the primary case and greater weight of the Touring line did seem to cause a little more noise than some liked but functionally it's proven to be a very sound setup so far.

The fact that the IDS setup was put on all the '08 Touring family and offered as an option for the '07s is no admission there was ever any problems. H-D improved their product line. It happens all the time.

If you find a new '07 you want, see if the dealer will throw in the IDS. They probably will. But you might not need or want it in any event.

Oh, and I'm sure choochoo is just trying to be helpful, but he doesn't even own an '07 and his '06 ain't a Dyna.
