My wife, whom I would love to show the greatness of the states, has crippling arthritis and actually cant deal with the awsume rumble of Harley's at idle. And very little of the vibs we [readers] love on long rides.
But I really desire to have my partner with me across america.

Why not start your own thread with this specific question? I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses from guys who have owned both bikes.
Personally if you paying attention to the guy you are riding with instead of what and where you are riding, I would opt out riding with all of you guys.

Having owned a Valkyrie standard back a few years ago, I can say it was a great bike and I'm sure it was faster than my 09 Ultra - no comparison on acceleration or top end. Fact is though, it was a Honda. No dig intended but it just doesn't have the heritage that I enjoy now. I can't guess how many people asked me what kind of Harley my Valkyrie was. Fast is way far from all there is to it. Truth is, that Valkyrie rider probably knew it too...
