When I got my 04 RK I bought it with the intent of building up a sleeper bagger that would be reliable ripping down the highway for many many miles. That's what I wanted and that's what I got. Just becuse you know your stock HD won't come anywhere close to running with a Honda Valkyrie does'nt mean someone else's can't. Like someone said before to (To each his or her own) Some people like John Johnson like to be noticed with lot's of BLING BLING. Me I like mine to look plane, but be able to pull the front end off the ground.
I have a neighbor with a Valkrye and I have to listen to the same crap about how fast his bike is and how nothing can run with it. All he ever talks about is how his valkrye exceeds anything my Harley RK can do. Seems like he is really jealous of the HD, or he wouldn't make all of the comparisons. I also like to tell him that that Valkrye doesn't make enough noise and that the other neighbors don't even know when he leaves the house (They all hate my fishtails when I wake the dead). I just tell him that one day he will rise-up and get a Harley and everyone will look and pay attention to his bike. His bike is nice, though...We pick at each other in good fun, but there is nothing like the Sound and ride of the HD.
Valkyrie owner here. I have 2 brothers with Harleys (2004 Road King Customs)....Got to love this subject as it tickles me pink.
Seems the jealousy is in the Harley owners. If the Valkyrie is Faster, more Dependable, gets more Attn (speaking from personal experiences. Can't tell you how many more looks my bike gets then theirs. Oh does this **** them off Plus looking at these bikes side by side...The Valkyrie makes the HD look like a moped.) and the kicker is it's MORE American made than the Harley. The only thing the Harley has on it is the Price Tag. I'm usually in a Valkyrie forum and have seen a fair share of Harly bashing which I don't personally contribute to as a bike is a bike to me. Doesn't matter what you drive to me but after seeing this thread I has to throw my 2 cents in.
Park your Honda POS for 10-15 years and then go to Honda looking for replacement parts such as o-ring gaskets, caliper pistons, and other model specific parts! You'll find you now have nothing more than a big stupid looking paperweight, cause that's all it will be good for. The Harley rider will be able to get parts from a 1000 different places and he'll be back on the road and his bike will still be worth more than yours was a year after you bought it.
