Default 93 might buy...

Might be looking at a 1993 electra glide standard (no truck but has radio). If it has somewhere between 35 and 45,000 miles on it but if it is in greate shape (say a 8 out of 10) what would be a good price be? Or even aa great 'deal' price for that matter? I would be the third owner (2nd got it from a dealer so don't know it's history really).

Not for sure what all is on it as yet but my brother saysit has fish tail exhaust and probably some carb other then stock (stage one kit?). Should know more this week.

Don't mean to say anything bad about the 07 road king I had but I'm hoping this 93 might throw off a little lessheat. I'm sure it was the stock exhaust and lack of after market fuel chip on the 07 that caused it but it felt hot as hell come off the rear jug. Thinking a bat wing fairing with radio would be nice for long rides and if needed just leave it at my brothers place for riding since it is a bit cooler at his place (around crystral river area of flordia).

Motorups,
I just bought a 94 roadking with 18k ,with lot's of extras and paid around 9k, I am real happy with the price.
It did need a 20k checkup and new belt, that set me back about 800. I like to do some stuff myself but I couldn't do all that was needed.
Good luck

...let me get this straight...your going from an 07 RKING to a 93 E-Glide?....[sm=dontgetit.gif]..but if I had to say what's a good deal, and what'a GREAT deal...I would say a good deal(assuming it's a clean-well maintained ride, would be in the 7-8K range..a Great deal would be anything LESS than 7k..IMHO...

As an owner of both Evo & TC baggers I understand perfectly. The Evo is better.

My brother called. The bike has 40k miles on it and it is a electra glide classic, black with orange/red penstrips on it. He says it is in great shap though not sure why it no longer has a truck on it. Hope to see and ride it this weekend. Then will decide if $7k is too much money for me to spend for that old a bike.Too bad no rear truck though.

Did a 93 classic come with cruise control back then ?

Anything one has to worry about on a 93 model with this kind of mileage on it ?

thanks for any input

thanks

Take a good hard look at it, see if it has any service records etc and take it for a good road test and decide. Don't do one of those " around the block" tests.... go 20 miles or so if you can.

My brother just bought a 92 with 11000 miles for 6k. 7 sounds high. NADA average retail is 6500 I would talk him down to 6 and it should be in really good shape KBB has it listed at 9 something but I think that is a pipe dream.

I have a '93 EG Sport that I bought new (this is the model they discontinued when they brought out the Road King in '94). The bike is solid and I wouldn't hesitate taking it on a cross-country trip. My wife and I took a two week trip from RI to Charleston, SC two years ago and I have numerous 400+ mile days on it. However, I have maintained the bike well. Two things you might now be aware of on the '93 touring bikes. The stock brakes are horrible. I added Brembro front brakes two years ago and it made a great improvement. Also, the rear axle isn't sealed like they are in the curent models and require annual greasing, something I don't do myself. So, it's and extra expense.

You can log into Kelley Blue book for bikes and check for the resale or trade in values, any add-on you will need to do yourself. Good to use, buying or selling.
