Just replaced that nasty blue trimmed high flow SE filter with a K&N that they finally came out with. TCSTD sent me the part number and a buy it now link on eBay...came yesterday, put it on today...lubed the throttle and idle cables while I was at it, and adjusted the cables too...
Wonder if I need to remap
Only thing left on the 10K service is the clutch cable, and the hydraulic fluid in the front forks...
My SE Stage I breather came with the K&N filter in it. Did you have the same breather kit? I would never use anything else BUT K&N. I use them on my all my vehicles....
I think your map is going to be ok. If you had a highflow breather already....you should be good to go.
I just had a stage 2 done in mid-october,when i was up to the dealer paying the rest of the bill,i asked to see my bike(winter storage for free with the work i had done) it has the nasty blue filter on it,told thats what comes in the kits, looks like i'll be buying a K&N replacement one, seeing how i havent heard anything good about the blue filters.
The SE filter I had was starting to come apart around the edges in just one year. I'm glad I replaced it before little bits and pieces of it started getting sucked into the motor.
I'm glad it is done, and put another 50 miles or so on tonight doing some Christmas shopping for our daughter...all is well. On a side note, I'm looking forward to the end of the season...
$140 for a filter like that which will loose the advantage of the top filtration when the cover is on it? Can't possibly breathe as well with a cover on it even if it is spaced off the top of the filter, it's still restricting the top. The cost of the replacement K&N will buy 4 filters compared to that one. JMHO
