I amgoing to be buying a fairing soon and am looking for as much info/feedback as possible. The front-runner for meappears to be Hoppe Design's "Quadzilla." I saw a demo model at Biketoberfest and was very impressed. The sound was clean and plenty loud. I like Dead Center's fairing too, but it only has 2 speakers. Do both brandsuse the windsheild quick disconnect hardware? Also, Dead Center notes that for the RKC, I have to remove the chrome deflector and trim piece and install a standard RK trim for the fairing to fit. Is this true with all aftermarket fairings? I saw a couple Quadilla's in Daytona. They look so good, you can't tell they're not factory/stock until you walk around to the radio side.

'07 Road King Custom
They all have there nice things about them. Quad has 4 speakers, Dead Center locks and don't forget about Dragonfly! They have 6X9 speakers and they rock! I have studied these fairings ever since I bought my Raod King Custom in March. I looked at all of them and I ended up getting the Dragonfly for it's sleek look and the 6x9 speakers which I can here at any speed. I think the Dragonfly has a nice fit and finish. I seen the Quad in person and I didn't like the5 boltpattern holding the windsheild together rahter than the3the othershave(Like HD). Also with the Dragonfly you can get a HD windsheild and it will go right on. The members on here have one of these fairings and they all seemed to be happy so I'm sure you'll be happy just as we are and yes the fairiingsdolook just like the Harley one while standing in front of it.
Rico, thanks for the reply. Beautiful bike you got there. Question(s): Did you have to change your cables for the extended reach bars and can you tell me the HD part # for the bars? Also, did the wheels bolt right on, or did you have to change the fenders? Did I see where Dragonfly will color-match front and back? What about overall size? Is the fairing full-size like the Street & UltraGlide? What size windshield comes on it? I have the HD mid-low windshield on my scoot and it's a tad too low. I need something about an inch shorter than HD's full size windshield. Would it be too much to ask you to measure from the headlight to the tip of your windshield for me? Did you have to replace your chrome wind deflector on top of the headlamp?
DRAGONFLY - Buddy had one put on at the Hollister Rally this year - We spent many hrs looking at other fairings for his RKC @ different shows & the internet and he's glad he got the DragonFly... Perfect Fit & Color Match is Dead-On... Those 6X9 speakers belt out some killer turns even at over 80mph.... And it will except all HD add-ons!!! And the people there at the Rally were VERY HELPFUL so give there Customer Service a 10!~
After a lot of research and seeing all of the contenders in person, I chose the Dead Center because they are all good, but it is the ONLY one with a lock that gives me a little peace of mind when I leave it. The tunes are great also and very clear at 85 on the highway. Also their brackets are polished steel and won't break like the fiberglass ones. I had it painted myself but I would recommend whatever you byt let the factory paint it (ask me how I know this!)More pics in my gallery if you care to look. Anyway you can't go wrong but I found as deal on the Dead Center for 20% off and it is pretty much available like that whenever you want it. PM me for details.

Thank man! No cable change with the reduce reach at all. All stock cables. Part #56152-04
The wheels went right on without changing anything.
The Dragonfly fairing is identical size to the street glide or Batwing fairing as some people call it.
I got the tinted windsheild which is the mid-high. Basically it's the largest HD makes in aslightly tinted.
As far as the chrome cover that go's over your handlebars with the wind deflector. That whole thing must be replaced with a short cover that comes with the standard or the classic road king.
I agree.. After much research I'd say the DragonFly is the best bet for aftermarket fairing. I checked them out at Hollister and I thought the fit / finish was superb. Not to mention that a nice pair of 6x9's driven by a good head unit will sound excellent in that fairing..
I like the Quadzilla. It has metal brackets. You cannot just pop it off like a detachable windshield. You would have to loosen or remove the spot lamp brackets to remove it. Seems like you could do the same thing with the Deadcenter and remove it lock or no lock. The sound is good with the four speakers, I never have a problem hearing them at freeway speeds. It is the only one of the three that has a sealed bottom. No problem using HD windshields. All I did was place theHD windshield in the slot and position it with three of the fivebolts; marked the other two holes and drilled two extra holes in the windshield.I think the major advantage of the other two is that you can order them pre painted at a reasonable price. I spent an unreasonable amountprepping and painting mine.
I went with Dragonfly after months of research. Got lucky and found one used( never installed for 40 % of new cost). What tipped me to DF was the look of the inner fairing. Just liked it a little better than the others. Love the 6x9 stereo speakers.
