I have 2 pairs of panoptx day and night glasses and they stopped turnin shades on me. I mean Id be in the middle of day with a pair of clears on. Luckily for me one of the pairs was still under warranty and they replaced the lenses no problem. The trbl from what I heard from a wiley x worker is that after awhile the day and night will eventually just stop. she was tellin me why but all i heard was blah blah blah. Yeah, she got into the big words I didnt understand so my brain stopped workin. My next pair will be the wiley x with switchable lenses.
Well, I'm riding since this year with the Bobster Roadmaster
and they are realy perfect for me. They are photochromic, have a perfect fit and a very good foam which you can take away if you don't need it. THere is also a google-strap comin with. And the yprice is the best. FOr me it is the best what you can get for this price..
Regarding the changing from bright to dark I can say it work fast enough. We have here a lot of tunnels in Switzerland which you take from time to time and the switching from Sun to dark is very good. I took them also in the night which works perfect. The only point for me is they could be a little bit darker in bright sunlight, but it is just sometimes a feeling of myself. All in all the are a perfect balance of price and quality. I also tested a lot others cheaper one and expensive one. The Bobster are the favorite.
I have something similar to the bobster, I think. I forget who makes them, and I am to lazy to go downstairs and look. They do not change color, but come with three sets of lenses. The arms can be removed and it comes with a strap to make them goggles. Also, the rubber around the eyes can be removed. I hate walking around a rally and having my eyes sweat from the rubber and no air ventilation. They were less than $50. If I ever break these, I will be going back down to barnetts for another pair. Best glasses I could hope for. With my large noggin, I have a hell of a time finding glasses that work, so I understand you situation.
I'm looking for a new set of sunglasses with the photochromic lenses in them, that way I only need to have one pair of glasses for day and night.
I've looked at Panoptx, but the $140 price tag scares me. I've looked at Global Vision and Bobster..........the price is cheap but how is the quality?
I would like a nice pair of glasses, but I hate to spend $140 to have them get lost, broken, or stolen. Are the cheaper glasses as good as the expensive ones?
Just curious what people have tried and are using.
Steve
Steve the PanOptx are the way to go. They are expensive but worth it. You get what you pay for. Why would you want to skimp when it comes to your eyesight?
I love my PanOptix Raptors. Bought them new on eBay and saved a bunch of money... about $100 dollars as I remember. Don't skimp on quality. These are the real deal.
I'm going to have to try any pair before I buy online. With my large head, I have a hard time finding glasses to fit and not be super tight. My current pair I had to heat up the nose bridge and bend it open more to relieve the pressure on the temples.
I also have the large cranium thing. Recently on a trip out to Colorado my favorite pair ( $15 cheapies) broke. So, I started using my backup pair. After a while I was getting a massive headache and knew it was the glasses. At the next town I stopped at the local HD shop and tried on a few diff pairs but ended up with a pair of $40 glasses. After about 2 days my eyes were red and blood shot form all the wind they let past. They seemed to fit fine in the store but not at 80 mph. I put up with them for 7 days and finally had to do something. So, at an HD shop in Montana I was trying on their Panoptics and could get over the prices. The woman that owned the shop told me to go down the road a bit to an eye glass store and get a pair of WileyX's. Said that she had the Panoptics but didn't like them as much as the WileyX's. That was a pretty good endorsement for me so I took her advice and bought the SG-1 LIGHT ADJUSTING/ MATTE BLK FRAME. They fit greatbut for me they do not get quite dark enough in the full sun. I am waiting onsome other lens to put in them as we speak. JMHO
I'm going to try and get by a dealer on Friday and take a look at some different brands and see how their prices are compared to the internet. Either WileyX or Panoptx are both around $125-$140...........now it's just a matter of fit and looks.
