Install Help
OK, I just recieved my King Ultra Tour Pak and rigid mount hardware for my 08 Road Glide. I opted not to go with the quick disconnect because I feel I will not be removing it much. Now looking at the tour pak I see the cables for the lights are not that long and are contained within the compartment. Do I need some sort of cable extension to hook up the tour pak lights and is it available? Also, which antenna relocation kit would I need? I assuming I only need to run an extension from where it is now to inside the compartment. I'm thinking the install itself of the tour pak would be self explanitory but if anyone else has done this entire job, some details and any pointers would be appreciated. I will post pics of the Ultra Glide when all is complete.
Thanks,
Also, are the fairing lowers easy to install on the RG?

Under the left side cover/seat is the wiring (with a three wire quick disconnect connector) that extends back to the tour pak. It is probably folded over on itself andzip tied. The TP should have a mating three wire connector. Just plug the two together and you sould be good.
The rigid mount rack is installed by removing the chrome strut covers and bolting the front of the rack to the frame rail; the rear of the rack uses a license plate bracket that bolts to the support tube where your current license plate is mounted. After the chrome rack is installed, the chrome strut covers are reinstalled. Remove the saddlebags to get at the bolts for removing the strut covers, installing the rack, etc.
Not sure about an antenna relocation kit. The TP should already have the antenna mount inside the TP, so disconnect the antenna cable from its current locationand feed it inside the TP to the connector.Don't know if this works or not since I haven't done it.
Personally, I have an Ultra box on my '04 EG but it's set-up on a detachable rack. I use an amplified antenna mounted inside the fairing--no external antenna--works well for me; no broken external antennas, no bumping into them, etc.
If you aren't using speaker pods, what did you use to cover the holes for them, and what did you do with the CB antenna mounting bracket on the box?

Ordered lowers for 07 RG. Came in with no glove box. Ones for EG come glove box for about the same price . By the time you buy glove boxs they are about double ones for EG. Send mine back because parts man said they came with them. Also do not wast money buying hd paint.
HPM is correct. The wire harness for the tour-pak is zip tied. You will have to cut it and it will extend out. Same goes for the antenna bracket. If you're not going to make your TP detachable, just reroute the cable from its current spot to the TP. You can also remove the bracket for a cleaner look.
If you're planning to add a CB antenna, you'll need an adapter cable from the TP connection to the CB connection. This cable is available at most CB/Ham radio shops.
For the open speaker pod holes, I went and found black plastic plugs from Lowe's that fitted perfectly. You'll need two different sizes for the holes. I also picked up a rubber grommet for the large cable-access hole on the lower front of the TP too. This helps minimize the amount of moisture/water to enter into the TP.

Harleypingman and Kahuna........Thank you!!!!
I just got back from lunch and visited the closestdealer. They said that the wire will not reach and a "special harness" will have to be made. For about 100 dollars mind you!!I have not yet taken my seat off because the bike is at home to see how long the wire is. I know about the stealers and would love for you guys to be right and take your word. So,,, you have personally done this and for sure the wires for both the lights and antenna reach the tour pak? I hope to have this done by the weekend, very anxious.

Well, here we go again. Another stealer hogwash story! What a maroon! The Road Glide is equipped for touring including TP lights and an accessory harness (which is also under the seat!) The accessory harness is attached to the accessory power switch by the ignition switch! Both the light harness and the antenna should reach the TP connections without an issue!
One thought though: make sure you are final on your seat selection before installing your TP! If you are planning to buy another seat, you need to make sure it's made to accommodate the TP. Some manufacturers like Corbin make seats for RG with and without a TP. If you're satified with the stock seat, then your TP will not have any issues.
Good luck!
