Lets see? Hmmm, sales are down, the price of HD stock is down. Limiting production. Yet, HD has a new model, the Rocker, which has the potential to boost sales but who knows when it will actully hit the showrooms, and those who want to order one won't get it until sometime in the future. Kinda wonder about the sales mentality of MOCO. I'm sure their is some kind of strategy, but certainly isn't clear to me. Seems like I would have a full court press in not only building and filling the customers orders, but would get sufficient #s of Rockers out to the dealers to at least generate interest in HD products, especially at a time of economic down turn throughout the MC market.
Bet you ordered ABS. I heard there are some issues that have slowed down production of ABS equiped models, my dealer wouldnt say if it was a issue with the ABS or something with a vendors supply of parts.
Yep, I did indeed order ABS.
I ordered mine on 9/23. The dealer (New Roc HD, in New Rochelle, New York) told me he'll have a bike for me within a week. Since I wanted ABS, he had to find and trade for one, from another dealer. Without ABS, he had in stock. I picked up the bike on 10/9. A bitlater than promissed, but he kept his word.
As far as the ABS is concerned, mine stopped working with only 100 miles on the odometer (the light came on, and is still on). I'm waiting for the 1,000 mile service to have it fixed, as I don't want them to keep the bike there twice.
The slow deliveries and lack of stock, is a Harley policy - keep 'em wanting! If you flood the market with product, the demand will go down. Simple economics.
Peppa1 said it best on how the dealers orders are placed but each dealer is independant in that they are only part of what determines the actual production of making the bikes. The MOCO does a forecast to procure parts from vendors and set up production levels. In order for the mfg to keep costs down they cut back on production levels and also cut back on their demand of their suppliers of steel iron tires etc. The mfg division then keeps its cost down demand up and is able to level out any losses to their shareholders. They don't really make any bikes to order for an individual customer, its more by lot and forcasting. If they keep production levels at their normal rate what will happen is they will build inventory which they hate, because the sales are off and be forced to layoff part of their workforce indefinately until the inventory is used up.

LexVegas KY baby....Home of fast wimmen & beautiful horses!!!
riddle me this,,, with so many 08's sittin in showrooms, why dont you own one yet?????
My thoughts , the showrooms here are full to capacity. Just take your pic. and I was amazed at how many 105th editions are sitting on the floor.
I checked all dealers in my area and nobody had the color combination I wanted with ABS. Not in any hurry anyway, just trying to figure out if why, in a slow market, that the Moco is purposley delaying taking my money!

Be glad too ..... see post above. I do not want anything except the bike out of the dealer. I got a reasonable deal, MSRP with no prep fee. They wanted a deposit since I wanted them to change color, I realize that was pure BS. but again I didn't mind, I was just glad I finally found the bike I wanted. Until it gets here I'll just keep piling miles on the RKC.
