This is the new Kuryakyn flame shorty windshield. It really isn't a windshield in my opinion as it is a wind deflector. It deflects the wind right into my face. The fit sucked as there is nothing like taking a grinding wheel to the edge of something you just bought to make it fit the windshield cavity.
Today's test ride was a 39 degree morning and to work. I can tell it's coming off for the winter and the stock shield is going back on but for special occasions I kind of like it. Maybe next summer I'll use it but not this winter unless I were to wear a full helmet. Since I hate full helmets that ain't happening.
It also cannot be seen through therefore in the summer if caught riding in the rain I wouldn't be able to duck in behind it like I did with my stock shield. Instead I'll have to sit up and take it in the face..What do y'all think?
Don't look like flames to me, white streaky?? As far as the wind in your face, all of the rounded top deflectors do that, I went with the flattop and it is a little better.
Looks wise.....from the pic it looks sweet with the white flames, but fit and function wise.....I dont know. I can tell you this (or anyone with a FLHX or anyone thinking about running a short shield) the short shields are 99% for looks, and not for keeping the wind out of your face.
I am 5'8" tall and the windshield on my 08' Street Glide is 4.5" tall from the top edge of the fairing to the top of the shield. I was getting some serious buffeting at speeds over 60MPH. Not so much a wind blast, but sort of a ocelation.....lets just say it was annoying, I would have rather been exposed to the full wind blast like I was used to. So I found a guy on ebay who was selling replacement shields with a slightly less darker tint than stock and in all sorts of heights (and tints to I think). After I spoke to the guy he recommended getting a shield that was at least 7.5".....3" taller than stock. I thought it would be too high.....turned out I could have gone even a bit taller than 7.5", but as it stands I love the new shield. There is no more wind hitting the top of my head at all......it aint like a UC's full size shield where 90% of the wind is deflected, but I would say its darn close.
I've experimented with 3 shields on my Street Glide. Currently running an 8" and seems to be perfect for my height (5'10"). Most effective wind blocker was install of Chrome Front Fork Air Baffle - Part 58520-79TC. This really helped with wind buffeting and smoothed out any turbulance. For around $25 from the dealer it is a really simple solution to wind.

They look much better in person. I saw them when they were testing the market at MB spring rally. I run a 6" deflector but I have my seat fixed where I am sitting 4"s lower than stock so that fixed the wind stream hitting me in the face.
