I added a stage 1 and sert last week. My 08 RG had oil temps of 220 - 227 prior now running 170 - 180. That's got to make a difference after thousands of miles. Seems like a good investment to me... the additional torque and HP at lower RPMs is a BIG fringe benefit.

I've told the story before of the differences between my buddies bike and mine. Both 07 RKC's, his with Rush and mine with V& H slip on's. Both stage one with filters. The difference is that I put a PCIII on from day one.
Please elaborate on what you mean by "Both stage one with filters." Are you saying you've got freer-breathing airboxes, replacement filter elements in the stock airboxes, did you have the "stage 1" ECU flash performed, etc.?
Yes, we both did the Stage one downloads and changed the air filter to open up both ends. Its the typical upgrade that most people do after adding pipes. I'm saying that it is not enough based on my experience with my friends bike having the stage one aloneand mine having the stage one plus the PCIII.

I'm a firm believer in ritchening these things up. I plan on getting a PCIII after the holidays w/the rev extender option. I had one on my spuer glide and it was great.

Fan Kit for Touring Models

This is like putting a bandaid on a severed limb. Our bikes are WAY TO LEAN from the facory. Exhuast restrictions and EPA restrictions are the cuase and heat is the result. Richen the mixture with any number of the fuel management devices. This is the real cure for this and do it before you ruin a set of pipes.

I agree with the lean answer if you can't put a thundermax or ddt at least put some kind of management system on it. It will last a lot longer.

I have a '06 - '07 Touring V&H FuelPak I just took off my Roadglide and installed a Zipper's ThunderMax. I'ld like $200 for it shipped. It is easy to install and set the map for it. Let me know and I can have it boxed tomorrow. It worked great, just with the cams and heads I am doing I need to either go SERT or an Auto-Tune, so I picked up a Thunder-Max.
