Anyone with performance pipes like 2-1 Thunderheaders or D&D get feed back from their Ol' Lady about "Too Loud or Too Damn Hot"?? I want the extra performance, but don't want my wife to NOT want to ride...
They are loud, especially the thunderheader
I traded my old bike with a V&H ProPipe(for the last four years)for a brand new bike.I am fighting with my OL, She want's me to install the Supertrapp Supermeg 2into1 I have in the barn new in the box. I reallywant to keepthe stock pipes! Go figure
Oh yeah, she rides with me at least 90% of the time
I have a SuperTrapp 2:1 and it is much cooler on the pass. and the driver. Not too loud either.
Same here. Just got back from Daytona riding 2 upfrom Atlanta even at 80 the sound from the saddle is not much louder than stock ( don't base your opinion from the saddle with this pipe it is much louder than it appears from there). As far as heat there is less heat because the pipe acualy flows foward before it makes its turn to the back (look at my sig. picture) I am running 18 disk
Well...I'm on my second Fatcat after switching back and forth from VH duals. If you were switching from stock headers to a 2-1, I would say cooler, but if you've been used to duals, I have found the increased heatnoticeable with the Fatcat, more so than my old Thunderheader. Reason; equal length headers on the Fatcat wrap the pipe forward quite a bit right by my calf, where the duals were buried beneath the floorboards. The heat from the pipe is there more so than the TH I believe due to the equal header length vs the TH or other 2-1's.
I just converted to a 2-into-1 V&H setup. It looks and sounds really nice and the heat issues were also addressed. The pipes are directed farther away from the rider and passenger so the heat is much less. Actually, I don't notice the heat at all now. Although, riding is now in the 30's to 50's so early morning rides could use some of that heat.
