One thing to think about it how hot temps affects leather jackets. Sometime having a leather jacket that doesn't breath that well is actually better for you if you are running through the desert at 100F with low humidity. If you are wearing a t-shirt, for example, the hot wind will stip off your sweat a lot faster than a leather jacket. So in this case, you will dehydrate faster while wearing a t-shirt than a leather jacket.

I don't have a problem with heat on the jacket, it's just that my pants are incredibly hot in the summer. I need different pant in the summer.

I just carry a small windbreaker that when folded up is the size of a couple cigarette packs. When the temps drop, wear it over or under the perforated jacket and you're good to go.
