Default Do Ventilated leather Jackets Really Work?

I'm tired of getting so hot riding on warm days with my leather jacket. I saw in the H-D catalog a couple different jackets that have ventilation. Some have zippers that open up vents and others have perforated leather. Anyone have experience with them and do they keep you cool? Thanks.

I have a couple of jackets with zippered vents and they do make a difference. However, I do not wear a jacket when it is above 80. I mainly have benefited from mine when on a long trip in the mountains where the temps change from cool to hot.

I don't have a Harley jacket...I have fox creek leather

Bottom line...vented jackets do work on the hwy...but around town and in traffic...not so much!!

Get a PERFORATED leather, makes all the difference in the world. I have both vented and perforated and the perforated is far superior for keeping cool, not so much in keeping you warm by design. You will sweat if you are NOT riding/moving. So be warned. Ive worn perforated jackets in temps in excess of 95 degrees. Again, you will sweat if you are not moving.

Cheers,

Tom

Pretty much already been answered, but I'll second the motion that the zippered vents do make a difference, not much at low speeds.

I don't wear a jacket if the temp is over 70, but sometimes when the temperature fluctuates it is nice to have options.

Yes perforated leather jackets are cooler than non perforated. However mesh w/armor is the way to go in hot weather imo. I save my leather for the cooler weather.

I ride with an HD Mesh (w/armor) jacket in the sumer heat around LV. It works pretty well.

I ride with a ventilated Fox Creek jacket in the winter. Do the vents work? Yep, just forget to close them a couple of times and see.

I've got an HD perforated leather jacket, it's like ridin' in a t-shirt as long as your moving.
