Does anyone know anything about this problem I'm having on my bagger (FLHTCU - 2008) ?
When I turn on the left turn signal, I get two (three at the most) normally spaced blinks, then immediately goes into a rapid blinking until I turn it off. It doesn't make a difference wether I'm moving or the bike is parked in the garage. The right turn signal operates normally.
You may need to replace the turn signal module. If memory serves me correctly, there are capacitors in the module which control the speed of blinking. You may have a capacitor going bad.
I had that problem and it was a bulb check it when it starts doing the fast thing just pull over and look at the back and front mine was the back light...
I found the following on the web site where I bought my trailer hitch and wiring harness.
What it is telling you isthere is a fault (burned out bulb) or when you reduce the load (removea trailer) on the circuit. Here is a reset procedure:
Grab a handful of brake, turn on ignition, turn on left signal and let flash 4 times, turn off. Do the same with the right signal and then the 4 way flashers. When finished turn off ignition and release the brake. Wait 2 min. and start the bike.
To avoid doing this procedure every time you disconnect the trailer you can install a powered converter/isolator.

I agree, this kind of problem also shows up if you have added any kind of lights such as additional turn signal or brake lighting. Sometimes adding LED lights will cause it depending on where you tap into the power. This is why when adding things you need to consider adding load equalizers or when adding a trailer you need a isolator. But as stated above it can be as simple as a bulb being out.

Thanks for any help.

High load (too many lights) or a bad ground, change in resistance. Pick up Tracy Martin's book about motorcycle electrical systems.
Thanks to all for responding. I haven't added anything to the bike since I bought it, so the load hasn't changed. When it starts flashing fast, both the front and rear turn signals flash fast too.
I guess I'll go out and buy two new bulbs and see if that helps.
Thanks again.
Take it to the dealer, you shouldn't have to spring for bulbs on a new bike! Although bulbs can fail right out of the package... your dealer should at least replace the bad bulbs (if that's what it tuns out to be) but if it's something else let your dealer figure it out under warrantee!
My '01 did the same thing, so I checked all the bulbs and everything was OK. I read on another forum (GASP) to turn on the ignition and immediately depress and hold both turn signal buttons for 8-10 seconds then release them, then turn off the switch. I did this and mine have worked fine since. Just a suggestion. Edbo
