PM me on the single application, I will be glad to help........Howard....dude.......little bit of sugar goes along way brother.......and I will put ONE QUALITY 6 Piston brake caliper against the pre 08 junk duals anyday.
The simple fact is I do not wish for any person to get put in a situation to get hurt. If you were riding in the same situation I was in, I do hope to god you would have made it out of it unharmed. As far as a jab or anything, style is one thing. Safety is another. Do you think I spent my time trying to better a mans quality of life just to prove a point, to sell something and make profit, or just to be a smart azz? I would not waste my time. steveh326 asked âOK... leaning towards losing the right caliperâ & I gave him the best advice I could. You do not want to take it, fine. âjust stop preaching about what you do and how wrong it is for someone to put a nice part on their bike to enhance the looksâ. Biggzed I have written to you as you know and never have said one thing to you about what you ride. That is your business. To say that one caliper and one brake is sufficient, that is BS advice to someone that possibly put his life at risk. Do you think that story was made up or I am entertaining myself? I am around this motorcycle stuff six or seven days a week. I do not have a day job. I should have said, just take off one caliper & cap the line for a while. Try and stop the thing.Bottom line, I think taking off a brake is foolhardy. If you wish to do it, so be it.
This was not to shooter64 but to Biggzed. I do not know what is up with that button as I replied to youBiggzed.
When put like that Howard your opinion and expertise carries some weight... I think the "shots" you were taking diminished your point, whether they were real or imagined...
No shots were ever given. Just the facts as I see them. I do not wish for anyone to get into a situation they can not get out of. Things on the road happen to me, I am a very careful rider. I do not heal as easiy as other at 59. I have been doing this for 39 years and I have witnessed many things. Biking is for the individual and not for anyone to tell a rider how to live. With that said, I am done I hope.
Howard.....one question....and I am not picking....but the weight difference between a RK and a heritage is 27 lbs. Do you really belive that two junky 4 piston caliper brakes are better than one quailty six piston. I saw your other post, where you were trailering a bike with a bike, you NEED trailer brakes, aint no way that can be safe, is there. I live the business to, and I can tell you I have NO first hand experience with the 08 brakes, hear they are better, but pre 08, I will take the single 6 every time, and as was pointed out above, there is a whopping 27 lbs of difference.....27, not 270, now if I were building race bikes, I would be more apt to agree with you, but then again, I would be riding a crotch rocket......and I do, when I want to go fast....but to say that it is dangerous....to replace those junk four piston's with a quality six piston is not right in my opinion.
Bart, you take very good of some of my friend (2) and great service to all here. As you know (I am sure you read all posts of interest just like I) I refer customers here to youfor your most excellent business practices. How about changing out a few calipers and doing a for real world test? Same brake compound on each. Run one custom primo caliper like PM 6-piston differential bore or Hawg Halters , run the stock calipers, than run two primo units. What a great asset this would be to all. The bike magazines all do articles on parts they are paid to sell. Never is there a real world results, no hard facts. A tape and a little time is all it takes. I must leave myself out of this because my outlook is always to make the chosen bike to perform the best it can. I have never run stock brakes on a bike since early 1975. I test and measure my own products I make in the development stage the same way. I would be very interested in your findings. I am sure all the members would be also.
