Hello all,
I have a 02 roadking, and the engine is stock. I would like togoup to a stage one setup. Iplan onporker slip on's,screaming eaglea/c, and the stage one download. Before I start allof this I would like toknow if its all worth if.I've been told by the dealer that this would really increase the hp/tq, but a few peopleon this forumthink that it actually cost them some of their midrange power, what do you think.
Thanks
The mechanic that will be doing the stage-1 upgrade on my 08 Ultra insists the best bang for the buck is slip-on mufflers, stage-1 intake and fuel management system (I'm have the SERT put on). True Duals can cost you some power and torque, so I'll be staying with the stock headers. I don't know if a fuel management system would be as beneficial on your 02, or if the remap will handle it. I know on the 08s my shop won't do mufflers and intake without some kind of fuel management as the bike will run too lean even with a factory remap
Better set-up would be Ness Big Sucker (they have a cleanable filter & overall better kit)
And go with a Power Commander III - Way better then just a Dealer Download....
Or better yet... Get ahold of Jamie @ Fuel Moto (Vendor here) and he can set you up a package deal and you can put it on yourseld in less then 2 hours!! (that is if your not dead set on poker mufflers and go with RUSH )
Only problem with your set up is, harleys download was developed for harley slipons, it might work ok and it might not with the pigs. Problem is it will cost you 149.00 + labor to find out. A PCIII would be money better spent and you can put that stuff on youre self and save money.
I agree with the PCIII, or other type of fuel management scheme. I had a 2001 Road King Classic with stock 88ci motor, Hooker slip ons, PCIII, and SE A/C. My dyno sheet showed 70 hp and 80 ft-lb torque. It moved along just fine and sounded good, too. A similar setup with the pipes of your choosing should do just as well and it doesn't cost a fortune. The next step involves cams, pistons, $$$...
