Default GPS to accessory switch

2007 Road Glide

I'm going to wire my GPS to the accessory plug under the seat. I know I have to get an end at the dealer to plug into the accessory plug. What does this plug look like. Are there more that 1 plug under the seat? If so how do I determine the correct one(I know nothing about meters, etc). I'm on dangerous ground here

Thanks

for what it's worth...I understand that while you on a route, if you turn off the gps ( as in hooked to the accessory switch) you will loose the track log....I don't know what else....

I kind of like having mine hot, as in on all the time....I control when it's off....

Just my .02

I just got back yesterday from having my dealer help me hook up my Zumo 550 to my accesorie switch. The service tech said the accessory switch is plugged is to a pigtail that is in front of the battery. He said that there were three more places on the pigtail to hook up something else. I paid 1 hour+$70.00 to have it done and I did not take a chance on scratching up my Fairing or wiring it wrong. The acc switch only works when the main bike switch is on. My GPS has battery backup and will last for 3 hours, and it also charges will I am riding. I am new to GPS, however on a recent 1,000 mile trip, I believe my Zumo ask me if I wanted to store the route I was taking. Bldr

what bldr said. I did it myself after reading /searches on this site and the zumo site.I feel it is superior to do it thru the acc switch. you need the pins(2)*,connector(1)*and I got the 1 to 2 outlet adaptor for future use just cause(dont need). Here is the 2obsticals thatare critical. 1)finding the order numbers*(there on this site and zumo's i believe) and 2)the dosch connectoris the 4 pin connector on access outlet.*ground,*live w/ignition,and 2 others that should not be used,,,brake on,,additional lights,,,?(dont use)

Scorpio49,
I just bought a male cigarette lighter plug from Radio Shack and wired my Zumo 450's hardwire only power cord to the plug. That way I can easily remove the handlebar mount and store it locked in my saddlebags if needed, the only thing left on the bars is theRAM ball mount, works for me.

Ditto. Use the cig plug. Have Zumo mounted on right side of the bars and run the wire behind the windshield bags to the lighter. I cut the wire to the proper length ans swithced the fuse in the lighter plug to match the one I cut out of the cord.

I went the cigarette lighter route with my Zumo 550. Couldn't be easier and I can remove everything except the ball. Cost me $4.95 at Radio Shack and 5 minutes to install. Used it on a 3-day road trip this weekend. Awesome.

I wired upaRoad Tech Queston my 07 FLHR in about an hour. Ran the wires under the tank, the kit came with the appropriateclips to wire it into the fuse box on the right side (throttle side) of the bike. The accessory plugI installedcame with the same clips, whichis connected to the second open slot int he fuse box. If you know how to make a circuit do it yourself, if not pay the stealer to do it.

Ran my power from the back of the AC Lighter adapter. The post in the center is hot.
