I have searched and found some of the answers I am looking for. My appoligies if this is a repost.
I wanted to chrome out my controls and my speedo. I purchased a spun aluminum speedo (no tach) on ebay. It has less miles than my bike has now. I am new to owning a bike. What is the best way to get the miles decently accurate? I called my local dealer and they were basically jerks to me. I dont mind paying for it, I expect that. Does anyone have any ideas?
Yea after I asked the question I realized DA It was a stupid question... I can't really help you on that one, you might find someone who is a electronic wis and they might be able to reset it for you... Jer, Good Luck
I don't think the dealer can do it. I think it has to be done prior to purchase. There must be a way to have it done though. Have you tried calling another dealer? You also should get a hold of someone who has made the change here. Harleypingman is the first one that comes to mind. He's a very knowledgable member here that is very helpful.
I am fairly sure your dealer must send the unit to HD to have the mileage adjusted. Depending on your state, there may be an alternative. Some sort of official sticker indicating the mileage has been altered.
