Don't try and save a nickle by not taking your bike in and having it dyno tuned. The down load your are talking about will make it run but no where as good as it can. It's worth every penny of the $300 or so it will cost for that service. You already spent $20,000 whats another $300, and your gas milage will be better so you will eventually will get it back.
Who said anything about saving nickels?I intend to have it dyno'd. My comment about the canned map is that it should be close enough to allow me to ride without damaging the engine until I can get it scheduled at Skips.
I plan to do a big bore and heads eventually, that's why I ordered theSERT and not HD's down load. When that work getsdone I get to pay for some more dyno time. $$$
Ok duracell, I was pretty sure I had seen your scooter along Rt 1 a few times.
I'm tied up for this weekend. Not to many long riding days left in Virginia here. I just made a run down to Keen Mountain and backa couple Sundays ago. Freezing cold along I-81 in the morning, but warmed up pretty nice around noon.
hey you fellow virginian's, Manassas here. Why not a Thundermax with Auto Tune and forget about the Dyno & Sert. $300 for Dyno and what ever the sert cost seems like about the same price for the Thundermax and you can probably get that quicker. I was planning on doing Stage 1 this winter and still deciding which way to go.
Read some things on the Power Comander that steered me away. Don't know much about the Thundermax with Auto Tune. Sert just seems simple, reliable, andaffective for what I'm likly to do with my bike. That's not to say the thundermax wouldn't also work just don't know much about it.
Thanks to all who post on the forum. After reading and learning here I was able to install (if you want to call plugging it in an installing) my SERT.
After banging my head on the wall a few timesbecauseI couldn't get the lap top andthebikeon the same page I did another search here and found that some others had a comm port problem. Bingo problem solved, map down loaded. Just using the canned map for now, SE slip-ons and AC. Should be close enough for now, I'll be heading for a dyno tune as soon as $$ allows. For now, no more popping at decel and the plugs look fine. I assume the heat issue is improved but the temps are in the 40's and 50's so its harder to tell.
Again thanks to all for the help, this place is full of info for us new guys.
