Default How do I make it QUIETER?

I have a 2007 Ultra that I've added the race tuner kit to and also new Screamin' Eagle pipes. It still seemed too 'quiet' unless I was really getting on it, so I bought a set of used RUSH slip on mufflers with the 1.75 baffles. Now, I love the way it sounds when I'm starting it and rapping on it, but I'm catching static from my wife because it's also still quite LOUD when just maintaining a steady speed down the highway. Has anybody tried to make such a system just a "tad" quieter in some way? I've thought about trying to wrap the baffles with fiberglass or something. I first I thought the previous owner might have drilled the baffles out to make them louder but after contacting him he says he thinks they are stock. I know I can see all the way through the mufflers and so I didn't know if that was normal for RUSH baffles or if that could be part of my problem. Any help or advice would be great. I like it to have bark but not be GROWLING all the time. If I can't find some 'cure' I'm afraid I'll be forced to go back to the quiet new version of Screamin' Eagles which don't seem to be all that much louder than the stock pipes were. I"m going broke trying to get the sound right and maintain the little bit of hearing I have left.

I might have your solution, I am running a set of old school SE1 slip-ons. I am wanting something a with a little more noise. I got these as a set of take offs, but they look new. The SE1's are a little louder than the new SE's but not as loud as the rush ones. If you are interested shoot me a PM.

Check out Rush’s web site, I think they make a quite baffle. Mine do not seem to loud for now.

RWP is right, they offer interchangeable baffles. I am wondering if the matting on yours is gone causing the extra sound.

Here is what I found:

They make a 1.5 baffle that is said to be just slightly louder than stock.
I had the 2.0 and put the 1.75 on..reduced the "loudness" by 50% and retained the sound.
I read that the 1.5 baffle has more "crackle" sound and less pop while the reverse is true as you increase size.

1.75 is just right for me.

No need to go broke.
Five dollars is what you need for a set of earplugs

I have the Rush with 1.75 baffles on mine and am trying to figure out if they are to quite. I like the sound of them a lot but would like a little more noise sometimes. Everyone has a different opinion for what sounds good though. Good luck in your search.
