Got this from FKNDLX.

Take an opener apart, solder wires to each side of the actuator switch. Mount the opener under the seat or side cover, running wires up through the tank console. Drill a small hole in the side of the tank console or even the inner fairing in a not so obvious place and mount a "moment" switch (Radio Shack, about a buck seventy five). Works great !

BTW, the head of the switch that protudes through the console is about a 1/4" in diameter, very small.
That is what I did except I just used some velcro and stuck it under the right lower of the faring and put my button ( also from Radio Shack ) in the switch blank on the right side next to aux switch. And bought the rubber switch cover for the odometer from the dealer.

I wonder if somehting similiar could be done with the second aux switch I have on my rk custom. I use the right one for my passing lamps, and the second one is doing nothing? Hmmm

Very nice install, and it looks sweet. Ya done good!! Btw, ya didn't get any snaps on the transmitter wired up, did you?
Well two things for me with the aux switch.... 1) it is wired to the power... thus you would have to break all the lines to it from the switch so you dont blow your transmitter. 2) I wanted to use the aux switch for when I install my GPS/my plug in for the tire pump.

-Not sure by what you mean on the snaps on the transmitter wired up?

HarleyFan: I considered the smaller push button... but once I got to radioshack and looked at it.... I figured when I would be in my cold weather gloves...it might be harder to sink the switch... so I went with the larger style..... Somewhere on lower fairing would work also.... I just balanced it with my odometer switch on the opposite side.....

LOL. What I meant was any pictures of the way you connected the wires to the transmitter.

ahhh I didnt get the internal shots of the transmitter...... I plan on opening the fairing this week to upgrade the speakers... I will break it open then..... and get the shots...

OR... If you are unsure since all transmitters are different.... You can take a pic of the front and back of your transmitter and upload them... I will draw on it on the points u want to solder.

OUt of curiosity... how did you all run your power wires for the zumo??? Did you all use something like this: http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US under the left cover?--- where did you run/hide the wire from there up to your mounting bracket?

Thanks

You have 2 basiccamps on this. One camp hard wires into the bikes electrical and the other buy a male adapter at Radio Shackand plugs itinto the cig lighter outlet. I did the later for ease of removal of the entire mount. We travel to different places and sometimes rent so this is a clean way to move the Zumo from one bike to another.
