I didn't remove the baffle. These look like a Rush, anyone know?
They kind of look like Rush. Mine were made this past spring and they don't have the machine screw in the top like that one does. I'm sure it's a typical kind of construction, though, so they could be just about anything. Do the Wild Pigs have the screw in the top like that? Is it for the hanger mounts?
Is it about 2" I.D. on the baffle? Maybe 1¾"? I know the older Rush baffles didn't have it but the newer ones have a post that runs clear across (I think vertically, but not sure) on the outlet side so they can be more readily pulled out.
The advice to repack them is good in my opinion. It would be cheap and simple enough. Wouldn't even have to remove the mufflers from the bike to try it. In fact, you could just get some fiberglass insulation from a construction site or something. It'll burn out very rapidly but will tell you what you need to know (whether they can be made quiet enough for you).
Bondo makes packets of fiberglass material used for fiberglass repair. Two packets took care of each of my baffles, and I wrapped light gage stainless steel wire around the material to hold it in place. Bought the fiberlgass packets and stainless wireat local Ace Hardware. Most auto parts shop probably also carry it. Really cheap fix.
If you can find sheets of stainless steel mesh, it will last forever, but I couldn't find any locally, so used the fiberglass instead. My pipes sound great with it. Good luck.
They do look like Rush mufflers, but hard to tell for sure. If your current baffles are removable, there should be two screws the go through the muffler body and screw into the baffle. If you can get them out and your muffler bodies are 31/2" in diameter, you can by smaller baffles from Rush and refit into you muffler bodies. Check the Rush website.
OK, after wrestling with the bolts the baffle came out very easily.
It is 19 X 3.25; it reduces to 2 inches in the middle. So now I needto wrap the 2-inch section with ss wool, right?
Looked over the baffle for a name but did not see anything. I think they look like the Rush.

I meant to include the picture but was so happy about getting the rusty bolts out with out breaking them that I was distracted. The bike is an 03 so maybe the baffle is an older model.
Thanks,
Mike
Stock mufflers on eBay? My '08 is too loud even stock.
You need to grow a pair or else go buy a BMW!!
Everytime I see your screen name on a thread its either some anti-harley statement or else liberal nonsense comments. If you don't like it don't buy it. [sm=americanasmiley.gif]
