Adjusted cold and warmidle accordingly to the HD 97 FLHTC Service Manual. Engin does not maintain cold start rpms. I had set the cold start idle to 1400 and the warm start idle to 1050. When engin is cold rpms drop to below 700 and then engin start to stall. Had a new ET sensor installed which was causing problems with engin idle below 2000 rpms. It appears to be an intermitten proble like maybe broken sensor wire. Anyone had similar problem or ideas of diagnosing this your input would be appreciated.
I too am having a similar problem with my 96 FLHTCI. I replaced the MAP sensor and it helped but still same problem. I plan to
adjust the warm slow idle and the cold idle next to see if it makes a difference.
When you get to the point in the manual where it says to pull the ECM fuse, pull bothfuses that are thereand wait at least 15 minutes. Nice thing about Mag Marelli is it sometimes takes2 or 3 times to get it to reset!
I attempted the adjustments but I don't think it took. The warm idle is running at 950 but the cold idle is running at
1100 and then drops off after that. I made the adjustment to the cold idle but while turning the speed set screw, I
saw no change in the RPMs. I will go and fire it up again in the morning to see if there is any difference.
Well, third time is a charm. I works now. I have to give it a little gas on the start up but the rpm creeps up to 1300 for a couple of seconds, then
drops down to 1100 and then down to 950 - 1000. It now stays started. Now on to the tires. I got some brand new Michelins that need to be
installed and then I am ready to ride. Whooooohoooooo.
