interesting selection of font.

Let me advance a clearer question (at least I hope): did you splice the current TourPak wiring and if so did you then cut off the connectors on the "bikeTronicsPower Plug" 12 Volt DC to 110 Volt AC power inverter?

It is plug and play, goes between the two OEM plug ends

My buddy has an 03 Fatboy, and wants to have an aux. power outlet to charge his stuff as well.
Has anyone added a plug like this to a bike without a tour pack?

Pull the seat. Fish around on the back side of the battery compartment and you'll find an HD Accessory pluh larteady there! Get a HD cigarete lighter from HD. You'll have to splice about two feet of wire for both live and ground wires, but the lighter is a power outlet. I drilled a hole in the tour pak behind the backreat pad, two small holes for the cig. lighter bracket, and VOLIA!!! Power that runs off the Acc switch on the faring!

Easy!

I followed this method I found on another forum a few years ago.

I took the unused battery clip pigtail that came with my battery tender, anbattery clip pigtail withthe roundlighter typesocket I had lying around the house, and cut off the two clips from each. I then solderedthe connector to the lighter type socket.

This allows me to charge or run any accessory from my battery tender wire (3A) or heated gear wire (20A). I made it just as long as was required to reach my ride side saddle bag.

OK, so this is what I do'd:

I ran a wire off the hot side of the battery and immediatly installed a fuse holder. Installed a 3 amp fuse. I then fed the wire along the existing cables into the Tour Pack. I got a ground for the outlet off the metal plate in the bottom. Installed the outlet on the back using the existing bolts that hold the back plate on.

Does this seem like a good idea? I know, shoulda taken pictures of the install but didn't think of it till now.

Some of the areas I ride in don't have cell reception and it really eats my battery. Was thinking this would be a good way to charge it
If it's going to be for audio equipment, run a pair of wires from the battery. Don't ground to frame. You can increase noise (ignition and alternator noise) in the audio equipment. You should also include a switched relay in the circuit to ensure that power is disabled back there when the bike is turned off.

All I'm really gonna use it for is charging my cell phone. Mebbe charge my Ipod in it too, but will see.

Thought about doing it switched, but the cell draws so little power when charging that I wasn't *too* concerned with draining the battery.

Will see, gonna ride it from Ohio to MBBW next year, so see how it flies
