Default whats the diffrence

what is the diffrence between a heritage trans and a road king trans cause my 04 king seems to ride at a lower rpm at the 70 75 mph.. and doesnt lose speed the same way when i come of the gas it keeps the speed pretty well.. is there a diffrence in the final drive?

I doubt the transmissions are any different. The motors are different, though. You have the 88a (rubber mounted)motor in the rk, and a heritage has the 88b (counter balanced). Don't know if this would cause the rpm difference, but the engines are mounted differently.

The transmissions are the same the difference is probably the final drive ratio. Those geared 3:37 are going to be much snappier out of the hole than say something geared 2:05.Find out what size your rear belt sprockets are. That is where you could make a change.

I read somewhere that the softtails are geared slightly lower than the touring bikes.
