Funky Smell

When my 2007 SG gets hot, there is a smell like that of burning crayons or plastic. I can't seem to find it anywhere. I can smell it relatively strong around the Air Cleaner but when I remove those items and get it away from the bike the smell does not eminate from there. I cannot find any burnt wires or anything that looks melted. Anyone have an idea of where or what this might be?

I find that after waxing the bike I get the same smell. It's the wax on the chrome parts, ie, pipes, rocker covers and any other engine parts that get hot.

I have a pewter denim SG and I don't wax any of it. I just wash it with Dawn and clean it with Windex.

Tell me more about the transmission vent. Does the transmission fluid have a plasticy smell?

Do you have one of those Battery Tender connectors on it? I had been noticing a smell like you describe for the past several days, and yesterday I noticed mine had slipped down and the end got melted on the exhaust pipe.[&:]
