Actually Rick did Not waste your time, he was quite helpful.
I don't have an 07 manual so can't look at it.
But my 2001 & 2006 service manual does state exactly how to check and change and correct level. It even has pictures.
so if yours doesn't perhaps you should take it back as defective and missing pertinent information.
Or perhaps the teachers were unable to teach to read in school. But pictures you ought to be able to understand.
Perhaps you need a 5th grader to come help you?

Thanks for the helpful response blaster.

I would still like some clarification on how to check that the level is correct.

Almost 7000 posts, Rick, and you waste your and my time.

The section titled "Primary Chain Lubricant", section 1.7, starting on page 1-16, in the 2007 version, DOES NOT say anything about whether to check it on the stand or not.

I was just looking for a little help, but I can see you, Rick, would not be the person to ask.

This falls under, think first, talk second.

What the hell Choochoo...they already made nice. I don't think they need you stirring the pot. Maybe a fourth grader could assist you with punctuation and when to capitalize words!

Does the Ultra (07) need to be level when you check the primary oil?

It does not say keep it level or place it on the stand in my service manual.

And, if anyone wants to comment on how to tell if the level is correct, that would be appreciated.

It's just not clear in the manual to me.

Thanks.
Bike has to be level.
Put in a quart.

Put in one quart and let it go. You really only need it level if you are checking the level, which there is no need to do unless you have a leak.

Wow, coocoo.

Having a bad day?

You state right up front that you don't have the 07 manual.

So any input you have after that is irrelevant.

Others have already confirmed that the issue I inquired about is NOT in the 07 Service manual.

I can read just fine and pictures do help.

I'm glad that you and Rick got to increase your post counts for no apparent reason.

Maybe you and Rick can form a mutual appreciation society, combine your post counts and win the big irrelevant post prize.

I believe I'll hold on to my service manual, which has been quite helpful.

Again, I was just trying to get a little help and clarification.

Rahall, does your service manual have a page in front to send to Harley when you find an error? I think you have a valid issue. A service manual should be more inclusive in directions, not less.

I sent in one when the directions for my heated grips neglected to menion hooking up the black wire to ground. It was part of the directions for other style grips, so it was obviously an oversight, as I believe your situation is.

Yes it does have a page for reporting errors.

Thanks for pointing me to that.

By the way, my heated grip instructions had the same error.

I called Harley and they emailed me a more current version with the correction.

I guess you and I had older stock.
