How much trouble will it be to change out my Ultra console forthe
console pictured below?
Iknow I will have to remove the intercom wires and will have to
remove the CB cable.
I don't use them anyway.
I like the way the console stretches the look of the tank.
I know I will also have to get a seat that fits a RK orSG.
I hope the picture turns out.
Thanks,
magnoliarunner
I have the HD Chrome center console that looks very similar to the one in your picture. It keeps the CB/Intercom connection while giving that stretched out look. You do not need a new seat with it either. It is easy to install (took me about 30 minutes). While installing the HD model you only need to pay attention to the wire routing so when you don't pinch them during installation. The CB/Intercom fitting is easily uninstalled/installed by spinning the retainer nut. Good luck, hope this helps.
It's very easy to do; did this on my '04 EG; huge improvement in appearance IMHO.
Purchase an additional "gasket" when you order the new console; it fits into the hole in the console that goes over the gas tank filler tube so you have a fresh seal that fits the new console.
I'd also suggest the lockable pushbutton gas cover release; no more fishing for the key at gas time.
Harleypingman,
Have you got a part number for that gasket? I'm getting ready to install the Chrome CB center console that Easyglide and Blacklion 213 are talking about, thanks for the tip, when I purchased the console the parts man did not say anything about a new gasket, but it does make sence.
