Just got my Street Glide back from the dealer after having the inner fairing replaced under warranty. Because I had read so much on this site and others about failing motor mount bolts, I had the dealer check the ones on my bike. The repair order invoice for my bike shows that they were checked but were found to be OK so they were not replaced. Here is the rub: The invoice mentions bulletin #M-1182 from the MOCO which explains that these bolts were upgraded to a new style. Old style bolts are to be checked but not replaced unless they have failed. I cannot quote the bulletin because the dealer didn't and I am not sure what models/years the bulletin is referencing. I have only heard about problems on the touring bikes.
Obviously, if the bolts were upgraded there must be an issue. My opinion is that Harley should allow the dealers to change these bolts rather than waiting for a problem to develop...but that's just me--kinda fussy ya know. Anyway, just thought some of you could benefit from this info.
The mirror mounting holes were mis-drilled resulting in the mirrors being too low. This was a recall issue that only applies to some of the first fairings that were produced. After a certain production date the problem was fixed at the factory so I don't think that all Street Glide owners are getting the recall notice.
I bought this road glide 95 cubic over the net a local harley mechanic owned . after detailing the grimey machine I found it was missing the left front motor mount bolt. I put a grade 9 cat bolt with locking nut it wiggled right in place.I understand that is a common proublem.
My Street Glide Just started vibrating like crazy at lower rpms and when going through the gears. Once in 5th and cruising the vibrations quiets down. I feel it in the floorboards and some in the handlebars. I called the dealer. He said to bring it in and they will check the motor mounts. He claimed that if they were the older tpye(whatever that means) he will change them out.
