Lost ya - what are you able to pull apart by hand? If the bearing/cam assembly into the cam plate - then "no" those bearings should not just fall out (would then think about replacing the cam plate).
The rear cam, the one w/ roller bearings will slide out , at least they did on my 04 ultra and 03 wideglide. Only the front cam has to be pressed out and then the bearings. I think this is correct.
Didn't have to press anything out of my camplate. Flipped it over, tapped one of the cams lightly with a soft mallet, and both cams/bearings fell out of the cam plate. If the bearings do happen to stay in, just put the camplate with bearings in the oven, 300F for 30 minutes. The camplate is aluminum and will expand greater than the steel bearing -- should be able to tap out then -- if they don't fall out. Use a socket same size as bearing housing.
Thanks Taterdog. That answers one question. Guess I will buy the bearing puller & installer for the bearings in the case.
Toby
Sorry, Toby, been out of town a few days. You can buy the tool for the inner bearing, or rent it. I rented from Perry Barth at pbarth@cableone.net. E-mail him and he can send you his price list. Much less expensive than buying.
