Ness Big Sucker, V&H Fuel Pak and V&H Basic slip-ons. I like. Gonna put the duals on in the spring.

Stock---just can't decide which slip on's to get so I haven't done anything.
Rush 1.75 or V&H Ovals--which is less louder

street,

I'm stock... thinking of going stage 1. Why are you going back??
I'm trying to cut out some of the shake and vibration. Anytime you change from stock pipes you will notice a slight increase in vibes.
That makes no sense to me.
Ok, here's what's going on: Recently mySG has been shaking more than usual and the seat, floorboards and highway pegs have developed a buzz that was never there before.Since my accident last year (plates and screws in my pelvis) my body has been more sensitve to vibes.
Also I have just discovered that the baffle in the right SE slipon is loose. Don't know if this is contibuting to the problem but I would guess that it is.The bike is currently in the shop for a tune and if possible to repair the baffle. If it can't be repaired I am thinking of returning it to stock.
Another possible contributing factor is the new style motor mount that was just installed a month ago. Harder rubber, definatly a difference over the original.
When my SG is sick I feel it's pain! lol!
Well there you have it, hope it makes a little sense.
You problem is either your new hardmotor mount or improper installed pipes, like with them contacting the frame somewhere. To say that "anytime you change your stock pipes you will notice an increase in vibes" is simply not true.

I have had my slipons for 2 yrs. When they were first installed I noticed they gave the bike a different feel (shake) over stock. Every bike I have ever put aftermarket pipes on did the same thing. That is a fact. I may be more sensitive than others since I do feel the difference. I'm sure others on this forum will atest to the same.

There are a number of things that can produce more vibration. Basically, your bike should be smooth as the day it was new if not better. There have been a number of threads in the last year or so concerning excessive vibration from the 'new and improved' motor mount. Some were even prompted to go back to the old mount. Also, engine mount/chassis alignment and exhaust alignment have a lot to do with vibration as well. Last weekend I did a engine mount/chassis alignment, which was way off. Afterwards, Iloosened the exhaust mounts and shook it around to where it settled in a 'natural' position, then retightened everything. She is now smooth as silk-not to say it was bad before, it's just better now. 2k in top gear and no vibration.

Stage 1 and Sert here, less vibration and smooth as silk.

I voted for stock because thats where my SG is at right now....it still has only about 500 miles on it. At 1000 miles I am going with a set of Rinehart TD's, Either a SE Heavy Breather, or Forcewinder w/K & N filter, SERT, and a good dyno tune. That should hold me for a few thousand miles....then I will add displacement and cams.

I'm going to 117 ,so mine definetly aint stock. I find it hard to believe that by putting on a set of pipes, that the vibes are more. I have done 3 Big Bores on my last bikes and each time it smooths the bikes out, not vibrates more. Its one of the many benifits of going to a big Bore. Tolerances are better which makes for a smoother bike and ride.
