No, there would be no advantage to using an ECM that's been flashed with the Stage 1 download, nor would there be a disadvantage.
As long as the PCIII map is correct, it will make up any difference that having or not having the download in the ECM.
I have a stock ECM, is there an advantage or negative to using the Stage 1 ECM map?

I'll second Fuel Moto as the place to buy PCIII's, as well as AC's and mufflers if you ever need them again. The PCIII's come with an excellent map derived from a dyno tune of a bike with hardware like yours. The PCIII piggybacks to your stock ECM and should install in minutes, although I can't say for sure about installation location or time on an FLHP. Jamie would know, so give him a call.
So I got my PC3 yesterday, bought it used from a fellow HDF'r, thanks!....(Wild Pigs slip-ons, Stock ECM and Screamin Eagle air filter), installed map M807-059, zeroed the throttle...bike runs good, very little pops, much cooler...
my question is, does anyone know if there's anything else i can do (short of a Dyno) to tweak it?...
With the PCIII you can adjust the map in any range rpm or throttle %. Most maps run on the rich side to keep things cooler than stock. Check your map and you can cut the higher numbers to give you a leaner mixture. Make small changes and ride for effect. You can tune for better mpg and for more power just by trial and error adjusting and make it run to suit your idea of how it should run. If you go to far with an adjustment it is simple to bump the numbers back to where you were before. When reducing fuel listen for pinging. If you hear pinging you have gone to far.
thanx streetglide...i'll dick around with it and see what happens...it's so nice though to be able to make adjustments, unlike the simpler old days when i just rejetted my carb...
i think that if you use a MAP that figures in Stage 1 that you will get less fuel signal because it assumes the Stage 1 fuel values are being used. i found that playing with the MAP that best fits your situation provides better results. a big problem i found with the PC was the retarded timing they had built in. i advanced most negative settings 4 degrees and got much better performance.
so then if i'm understanding, i should take all the neg feul #s (mostly @ 2500rpm--see attached) and bump them up by 4?...sorry if i sound stupid but this is new to me
