Has anyone had the download done to shut down the rear cylinder at idle? What are your thoughts about it? Does it help the heat problem a lot or just a little? Is there a hesitation when the rear cylinder starts back up? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
I am not 100% sure, but in my 08' owners manual it states that there are three levels of heat control the ECM can input to a stock bike. With no DL mentioned. The first is to just richen up the f/a mix....second is a reduction in idle RPM, and third is the shutting down of the rear cyl. Nowhere did I read anything about any DL?????
There is indeed a "parade" download that comes into play when the bike is idling for long times. It shuts down both the Spark and Fuel to the rear cylinder, making it a large air pump.
Yep it's for real.... It's a FREE DOWNLOAD 2007 - 2008's (?) (HD will do it for free ONCE - and if you don't like it will remove it ONCE for free)... Shuts down the rear cylinder AT IDLE - and will kick back in at anything over 1200RPMs... Does it work???
I had it down loaded on my 07 last year,,,It never came into use, with me.
maybe if you were in Fla. in the middle of summer and waited in 1/2 hr traffic,parade,etc..?
got the dl. I think it takes some severe heat to kick in? Have nevernoticed anything different.Even before, all the (temp)mods when bike got good nd toastie.
According to my service guys, there are two downloads. One is the "Heat Management Download" that shutts off the rear cyclinder when stopped, idling, and hot enough. Blipping the throttle will disable it. This software is stock on 08's. There is also a "Parade Download" that richens up the air/fuel mix at low speeds (such as parades) to help cool the engine.
Haven't tried either one yet, but will put in both if I can get them free. It getts hot in Orlando in the summer and I4 turns into a slow moving mess very frequently.
