You cannot beat the HD products. Harley polish and glaze is the best I have used . Zymol is also a great polish. Get it at Auto Zone ,pep boys etc.
Sorry, but the Zymol you find at Auto Zone, pep boys, etc. is nothing more than Turtle Wax. For the real Zymol you have to go to a specialty store like The Driver's Seat. Check their website: http://zymol.com/
The Zymol that tested #1 in Consumer Reports is the same cleaner wax I bought in Pep Boys.
I just started using crystal glo I like the way it applies and it leaves a nice shine, I've heard a lot about Zaino. Has anyone compared it to crystal glo?
Crystal Glo is great but it will leave a milky white finish on dark colors after a few coats. I now use it on chrome only.
ORIGINAL: hogwash
That Dawn dish soap is just about the worst thing possible for your clear coat finish...
Although there's some debate as to whether it's necessary to use Dawn to remove old wax (and it's not if you use a clay bar), I have seen no objective data to indicate there's any damage to the clear coat.
There is really good information (and MANY points of view) over at http://www.autopia.org from folks who make a living at detailing. It's good reading.
Dawn cleans like heck, road grime, grease etc..but will not harm clear coat or paint.
Turtle Wax ICE here. Only using the spraydetailer at this point. I can get a pretty deep appearence in two to three applications, which requires nearly no effort at all.
I'll be picking up the clay bar soon as I have me a nasty case of bootdrags on my bags and a few swirlys to take care of.
I have always had good results from Meguires products. First I polish with thier #7, tan color bottle, and any of thier wax products. The polish is great for getting out fine scratches and swirl marks!
Good Luck!

I sure am impressed with Zaino. I've used it on my bike and cars. I understand that duragloss has similar results and is less expensive. I may try it next.
