105th party/ride
Staying in Mayville for the weekend.
I hadn't heard that access to the museum would be by lottery, I only thought the lottery was for the parade. Doesn't matter to me since I live in Milwaukee and can go anytime after it opens but that sucks for visitors.
BTW, I heard a rumour, I know they're like azzholes - everyone has one, Springsteen might be at Miller Park for the HOG concert. He is on tour and likely will be doing stadiums at that time. Supposedly, he had verbally agreed early onto play at the 100th but then something came up and he begged off but then Elton was the biggest name they could line up. We walked out not long into his set. Really loved the Doobie Brothers that day, they still can kick butt.

I'm about an hour southwest of Milwaukee and will be heading up at least one day if not a couple. I just won't be getting a room. Keep checking with the hotels, sometimes there are fall outs. Last year I got a room in Rapid City two weeks before Sturgis started.....jmo. Also, as it gets closer HDF members should set up a gathering. As Slash has posted he knows some good roads for some nice cruises.

Easy there, what really happened there in NYC? According to the Wiki listing:
In the early morning of February 4 Diallo was standing near his building after returning from a meal. Police officers Edward McMellon, Sean Carroll, Kenneth Boss and Richard Murphy passed by in a Ford Taurus when they thought Diallo matched the description of a (since-captured) serial rapist and approached him. The officers were in plain clothes. The officers claimed that they loudly identified themselves as NYPD officers and that Diallo ran up the outside steps toward his apartment house doorway at their approach, ignoring their orders to stop and "show his hands." As the suspect reached into his jacket, Carroll believed Diallo was drawing a firearm and yelled "Gun!" to alert his colleagues. The officers opened fire on Diallo and during the burst McMellon fell down the steps, appearing to be shot. The four officers fired forty-one shots, hitting Diallo nineteen times. Investigation found no weapons on Diallo's body; the item he had pulled out of his jacket was not a gun, but a wallet.
The songs lyrics:
41 shots....
and we'll take that ride
'cross this bloody river
to the other side
41 shots... cut through the night
You're kneeling over his body in the vestibule
Praying for his life
Is it a gun, is it a knife
Is it a wallet, this is your life
It ain't no secret
It ain't no secret
No secret my friend
You can get killed just for living
In your American skin
41 shots
Lena gets her son ready for school
She says "on these streets, Charles
You've got to understand the rules
If an officer stops you
Promise you'll always be polite,
that you'll never ever run away
Promise Mama you'll keep your hands in sight"
Is it a gun, is it a knife
Is it a wallet, this is your life
It ain't no secret
It ain't no secret
No secret my friend
You can get killed just for living
In your American skin
Is it a gun, is it a knife
Is it in your heart, is it in your eyes
It ain't no secret
41 shots... and we'll take that ride
'Cross this bloody river
To the other side
41 shots... got my boots caked in this mud
We're baptized in these waters and in each other's blood
Is it a gun, is it a knife
Is it a wallet, this is your life
It ain't no secret
It ain't no secret
No secret my friend
You can get killed just for living
In your American skin
I never did to well in poetry but this looks more like he wrote a song reporting what happened. NYC's finest took exception to it - why? Shot the man 19 times reaching for his wallet? OK, if he was only shot once or twice - accidents happen. 19 times?
We have a small group coming up from Arkansas. My family has a house on a lake about 40 minutes west of Milwaukee. When its all over we are going for a ride around Lake Michigan. Should be a great time!
Yes, the officers IN HINDSIGHT, may have over reacted. But, if they under-react in their job they die. Everyday they face death, and they must make split second descisions. If someone runs from them, most of the time they have a reason.
Fact remains, Jerksteen decided to make a song slamming their descision. Made lots of money from that song in his concerts and free publicity it received. Then a year later, he changes his tune in favor of the same department. Why?? More money to be had.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
) It may be a HOG related event tho...not sure...
