I have a 05 Road King Custom and I have a vibration problem. The front Motor Mount has been replaced and the vibration is still there. Has anyone else had a similar issue? I've had it at the deal several times and they have not been able to figure out the problem.
Have you owned it since new?
Have you checked the tires and wheels for proper balance and running true ( slipped belt).
Have you checked the engine to tranny connecting bolts and primary case.
checked the swingarm mounting bushings and tension?
I have owned the bike since new. The Harley dealer has done all the checks so far. I've asked the same questions and I've been told they have been checked and are all correct. I will have them double check again.
Thanks for the information and I'll make a post once the cause has been found.
man i don't know where you are experiencing the vibration but i had a similar issue with my 06 sg and it was the neck barring was loose and you could feel it in the handle bars at almost any speed. My guy told me they do not put enough on it from the factory.
I feel the vibration in the frame and at most RPMs and speeds. I don't really feel any vibration in the handlebars. However, at this point I'll take any suggestions.
Just for grins , has it been worse since adding mufflers?
The reason I say this is because after I put on my first set of slipons , the right saddlebag vibrated pretty bad.
I could feel it throughout the whole bike.
I just had to loosen the front (muffler) clamp and wiggle the muffler into a more "neutral" position in its rear mount.
Tightened it back up and the shakes were gone.
As you can see , the engine can shake quite a bit , but the mufflers can't at their rear most mount point.
Even bad or loose muffler mount rubbers can cause a bunch of extra vibration.
It might be worth a try , it's the little things that get ya.

Okay...here is my vibration story. My 06, with a bad engine vibration got a new, updated design, front motor mount from HD. After the new mount was installed the motor still sent heavy vibes through the frame. Huh????? After some research I discovered that the new front motor mount was installed UPSIDE DOWN! Seems the old mount had a marking on it stamped "Top", whereby the new mount does not. Well...mine was installed upside down. The proper way for the new style mount to be installed is with the molded in flat washer up and the larger dia. of the mount down. Once the new mount was installed correctly the engine vibes went down to where they should be. Good luck!
Hope this ain't it, but Harley has had a lot of cranks slippin. The only way to check it it to check the end play on the crankshaft. It is usually caused by luggin the engine. Running it under 2000 rpm's or a wreck or something like that.
Got a buddy that just had the problem on a 07 Heritage.
