Well, one of the local Nashville HD shops had a Black Friday 20% off sale that lasted all weekend, and it was rainy and/or cold all 3 days, and I've been reading on this forum all weekend about the virtues of the IDS & the "elbow grease" HD discount, and since I couldn't ride I got bored, so I got in my cage andwent on down to the shop, and I just couldn't help myself,so I bought myself one of them IDS things with the understandiong that I had until 12/31 to have the unit installed with the $100 "elbow grease" promotion being effective until then. So, now I'm home, and after a few beers & dinner I'm wondering , is this thing really all that good? Do I really need it? Is it going to make my life all that much better? Should I keep it, or should I turn it in? Help me!
I have a 2008 and the IDS was standard but I've seen dozens of posts on this one and 98% of them are positive. That includes a lot of guys who didn't think they needed it until they got it and then couldn't believe the difference it made. Have another beer and then get it installed I doubt you will regret it.

I did the same thing, our local shop had a 15% discount on friday so I ordered mine, I had a $100.00 in bouns bucks plus I won a $100.00 gift certificate a few weeks ago... I used them both plus the discount and my out of pocket was just under $75.00.... I will schedule an app. as soon as it comes in and the "elbow grease" promo will take care of that.
But anyway I would keep it, like so many have said on here it will be the best money you ever spent on you bike.
cwickgo9,
I'll beinstallingthe IDS on an 07 EG Classic, which I've riden for 11,000 miles in just over a year. It's a great bike, and at this point is totaly stock mechanically, with several comfort & bling additions. I came off a Super Glide, so it's been a wonderfully smooth bike in comparison. I followed Duracell's advice & had another brew. Looks like I'm moving forward.
It's a lot better upgrade than any bling you might add.
It increases the comfort and smoothness of your ride and widens the usable powerband a bit on the low end that will allow you not to downshift on occassion. I paid $300 bucks and did the install myself. Glad I did the deed. Don't 2nd guess this. It's a good move.
$297 installed here and I think its a good addition ....very seldom do you hear all of the members of this forum agree; well they do on installing the IDS !!!
