a small notch has to be made for the front bracket to clear, because the lowers are plastic, this is easy to do and hardly noticeable, the set I installed for a guy with lowers on a 2007 model, he had me trim out the side as well so his foot would come out of the lowers easily. If you wish to order a set and try them out and dont like the mod, just send them back for a full refund....... WB
For Hd Forum members ONLY........ we will trim your lowers for you for free - you just pay shipping, or if you are local to Indianapolis we will do the complete install for free, you just bring your bike to us.......... make sure you mention the HD Forum when you contact me. Takes 1 hour with lowers and about 30 minutes without!!!
any thoughts on making like a 1in version so that people who have lowers don't have to notch? And people with shorter inseams may take to the option of having a middle version between stock and 2 in?
I also installed the Wild Bill 2" floorboard extensions on my Road King. When sit on my bike my feet would hang over the front of the boards. With the extensions the boards are now directly under them.
hd extended reach kit will give you approx 1 inch forward. My brackets with hd kit approx 3 inches forward. even a 1 inch offset on the front bracket would require the fairing lowers to be trimmed.
Thanks for the quick responce. I have the swept boards on my SG and the harley pans only fit the standard style boards. Those would be perfect, if they fit. Anyone know a place the may make swept board pan extensions.
Sorry, I dont know of anyone. You may have to use the footboard brackets and trim the lowers. Its really not a huge job or anything, and when done correctly does not look any different from factory. Even with a shorter inseam I think the 2" is the way to go for you! your brake would stay the same and your shifter could stay as well, so the only change is footboard location. Without thinking about it, get on your bike and put your feet in your comfort spot, then look down and see how your feet are in relationship to your boards... Most people with 30" and longer inseam finds their toes about 1 3/4" off the front of the boards... hence the 2" extension.....
