Default Take Off Fairing to Remove Shocks?

Well, the bad news...it's cold. Good news, it's winter mod time! Along with changing out my 18" front wheel with a 21", I'm planning on powder coating the lowers and brake calipers. I have a manual, and have already removed the front fairinga couple times for Hogtunes..etc. I have a 2001 EG. For those who have done this, I'm not seeing any other way to get the shocksout then to completely remove the fairing. Am I right? And just how much a pain is it?

I removed the outer only and then 4 bolts that hold the radio.

yep...mopar7 is correct.
Remove the outer fairing.
remove the radio
since you have an 01 you will also have an air line going to the front shocks. 01 was the last year for the front air shocks.
Remove the banjo bolts on the top of the forks...this is where/what the air line connects to.
Remove the upper fork cap (my name) you will see it once you get the banjo bolts out of the way. it is chrome and takes a 15/16 or 1 in open end wrench. But luckily it is not tremendously tight and a couple bumps will get it loose enough to then remove my hand.
Oh yea...remove the front tire, brake calipers, and front fender first....!!!!!
There will also be a 1/2 or 9/16 set screw/nut on the upper triple tree that holds the forks from spinning. Loosen it. The forks should slide out...you may have to give them a good wiggle. Then you can remove the cow bells....upper fork slider covers with a 5/16 nut driver.
Start to finish hour 1/ 2 or so.
