Wife and I just got home yesterday from our trip from Longview, Washington to Yuma, Arizona. We must be the luckiest riders in the country to only have 2 hours of bad weather out of 28 hours of riding. Left Friday, November 23 to beautiful blue skies with temps in the 30s. Thankfully for Gerbing's. Saw blue skies for the entire trip until we neared Portland on the way home.
Bike ran like a champ getting from 34 to 40 miles per gallon depending on the hills and how hard I pushed it. We chose the boring route down I-5 due to time restraints. Learned a valuable lesson about blasting down the freeway. It can be very boring. Our next trip will be shorter with more stops and NO FREEWAYS.
Only issue with the bike is an oil leak that developed around the base gasket for the rear cylinder. Stopped by my dealer on the way home and scheduled the repair for next week.
I've noticed after each of my trips, my MC addiction gets worse. Better schedule another trip soon to feed that addiction
I'm actually having a problem with the Street Glide.....Every time I start her up, the warning lights flash TRIP TRIP. Have done several searches and so far no solution for this problem.
I love the Siskiyou sign. I just transferred from Bangor, (Silverdale, Wa) to DC, on my way to Berlin. I am from the bay area so I've made the ride enough. Glad you enjoyed your self.
The coldest temp were here in Wshington and Oregon. Just above freezing. I was using the Gerbing's socks, pants, jacket, and gloves. My wife was wearing a full insulated suit. There is NO WAY we would have been able to do it without the proper clothing. Keep in mind that this is hours at a time, not taking a break every hour. It was a great ride with clearblue sky most of the time even though the temps were low.
