Its no big trick getting them on.....maybe I just have ones that fit good.....I was concerned that the hot ride to sturgis might release the velcro tape on the inside of the lids...but no problem....they were on there for three weeks.

I haven't seen any chaffing marks....I always put a heavy coat of wax on the lid before I install them.

I've had mine on for over a year and rarely take them off. Not even to wash the bike. I have seen the velcro strips sliding a little due to the glue melting in the HOT New Mexico sun, but everything is still holding tight. I think having them lay out flat in the sun prior to putting them on will help with a good tight fit too.

P.S. Pledge works awesome on them too.

Thanks guys. I think the issue was just that it is so cold here and they were a little stff. I just took the bags off an set them in front of the fireplace with the bras drapped on top (far enough away they wouldn't get too hot to touch). I have them very close to how I would like them. When I took them back out in the 30 degree garage they sucked down and looked like they are glued on the lid.

I had to do something because coming from a lowered Softtail I could literally walk onto from behind I kept fogetting and kicking the bag lid.

I put them on because my 10 yr old kept scuffing them with her boots. I only put them on when she rides with me. I have seen no paint issues.

Like I said I just used a hair dryer to speed the process up instead of the fireplace but what ever works for you. I am going to have to do it all over again as I am shipping the bike with out them on.

Glad it worked out for you
