Default Laid my FLHX down today

It had stopped snowing and was just raining when I left to do a polarbear run. Got to my destination safe, but dropped my 07 flhx on the way home when going a t a slow speed over a bridge that froze. Thankfully I was not hurt, but the bike had a lot of damage. I had her towed back to the dealership. I don't think I'll be doing winter riding anymore. Putting the bike down made me realize how dangerous our sport can be. It has made me question whether or not do get back on.

Thanks Eglidetike1.. Definitely learned a lesson about the cold weather riding today. I won't do that again.

Easy now, ext1bab; your decision to reconsider winter riding is understandable.Getting back on is a must! Having survive a very serious accident, I know the importance of "getting back on the horse" and riding again. I hope you will reconsider.

As a pilot I can say motorcycling and flying have a lot of similarities. The biggest is making that go or no-go decision. Factors that aid in making that decisionare often weather but also includes equipment, mental state, passengers etc. Sometimes the weather forecast says don't do it and sometimes I just don't feel 100% right mentally or physically.

Anyway ice on the road to a motorcycle can be just as fatal as ice on the wings to an airplane. Glad you made it through ok and sorry you damaged your bike. Hopefully your bike and ego makes a full recovery and you enjoy many more two wheeled miles with the rubber side down. The most important thing is that you lived to tell about it.

Glad you are OK which is most important. I bet many of us have ridden when we shouldn't have. Your bad luck is a good reminder for us all. Just remember all the great rides you have had and get back on that baby when the weather improves. Hopefully she's not damaged too badly. Good luck!
