Have one on my 07 Ultra with no problems.

If you move the air temp sensor outside and below the fairing the guage will work. Don't know why HD won't do that, or put an oil temp guage in at the factory.

When its cold my temp gauge is pretty close to whatever the weatherman tells us. When 75 or above it always reads several degrees higher, don't know why.
I had oil get in to the display. I swap it for the gauge in the fiairing looks a hell of a lot better. Plus you dont have to bend over to check the temp just look at the gauge. The fairing mount one is only 5 bucks more and worth it. Just my 2 cents
This has probably been posted before, but has anyone used the oil temp / dipstick gauge made for the 2007 Touring bikes. I am looking at em but wonder how well the might work and if they are sturdy.
I've got one. To me it's pretty much worthless. You can't check it while riding and if you are wearing sun glasses the reading is invisable. YMMV.

I definately would install the fairing mounted gauge. It is really easy to do. It took me about 60 minutes to do it because I soldered all of the connections. Install the sending unit in the oil pan with a fitting from NAPA. I forget the size but I used the instructions on hdforums. PM me with any questions. If you are in NJ I will give you a hand with it.
You will not need the install kit from Harley either, just the gauge and the fitting.
I have one on my 2007 Ulta. I am on the 3rd one now. When they get wet they leak and stop working. when they work they work fine. I'm getting 6 months service out of them so far. I'm going to make my dealer replace them until they redisign them so they wont leak. Harley has been in business all these years and still has not figured out that motorcycles get wet and the electrical stuff shoud be weather proof, ie; gauges, front lights. Go figure.
What do u mean it leaks? The gasket? So water gets in the oil tank?
