ive got some PMs wanting to know what all i had to change in the 07 conversion... just a few of the parts required are: fuel tank, fuel pump, (main wiring harness = 450 bucks btw), console, speedo and guages, seat, handlebars, nacelle and a bunch of small parts.. its not for the faint of heart...
Hey Bruce, your bike looks TOO much like mine. I'd better go out to the garage and check.
I love the FLHT. I rode a king and it didn't feel much different at low speeds. The Heritage Softail Classic does feel a lot lighter in a parking lot. I hear they're not as good on the road though.
The FLHT is the best bike I've ever owned. I think I'd say the same if I owned a King. And yes... I'm over 50.
I rode her in Boise today. 37 degrees and still fun. On days like this the batwing seems like a REALLY good idea.
I'm old dammit! AND I still ride the Road King Classic! Because it's just like the one I grew up with! Actually the bikes have changed a lot but I still love the looks of a Classic. I enjoy seeing the chrome headlight and the ground in front of me. I even enjoy getting smacked in the face by a bug once in a while. Also, I mostly ride in the mountains and not on the freeway. If I had to ride 100 miles on a road covered in trucks and no turns, I'd just ga and die...and that's not that far off. Well, I'll be 60 in a couple of months...that's not old.....just ask me...
Me likey!!!!!!!!! comfy and VERY easy to ride. I changed out my seat to a badlander to "look" better. Ya, well the stocker is on there and I'm probably gonna keep it that way! LOL
I added the gauges (very easy) and a biktronics set up with the Titan speakers. Also very easy.
I could kick myself because I'm actually looking into a color matched tour pac now. Won't happen unless I get my niece's employee discount, that's for sure.
Both are perfectly wonderful bikes. I prefer the RK myself since I didn't want a bat wing. Oh and yeah, I'm over 45 and this is my first HD. I'm happy.
