I put tape on the tubes to protect the finish, put each tube in a vise and with a piece of pipe I bent the tubes just a bit until I found the spot that allowed me to have the Allen head set screw that adjust the tilt to behalf way. This way I can go a bit in either direction with adjusting the tilt. It worked just fine. Don't forget the tape otherwise you might have to use touch up paint.

ORIGINAL: pab

I took my HD backrestoff, returned it to the dealer, and then ordered a Mustang backrest. It adjusts & pivots at the point where the shaft connects with the backrest pad, just enough to accomodate different back sides. I had one on a Superglide, and now I have one on my EGC. If it's not too late to return it to the dealer, you might consider this option.
Can you use the Mustang backrest with the Sundowner seat? On the Mustang website it looks likeyou need to use the Mustang Seat for their backrest to work.

I was able to use the Mustang backrest with the MOCO saddle on my 07 EGC because the EG saddle comes with a slot that is there for a backrest post. On a Supergide I once had, to use a backrest I had to buy aspecial saddle that would accomodate a backrest. I went with Mustang because some friends had bought Corbin saddles & backrests, and I didn't like the Corbins. They felt a little hard/stiff.So, I gave the Mustang saddle & backrest a try. Both were excellent products. Look up Mustang on the web, get their 800 number & give them a call. They're good folks & can tell you exactly what you need. Good luck.
