Sorry Rob - Forgot to answer that part of your question. I feel like I have more room. I'll take a pic tonight with me ont he bike and you can be the judge.
I have S/E Heavy Breather part# 29592-05 on my '07 RG. I think HD discontinued this part# becauase they added the rain sock to the kit and raised the price $20. I still have the box at home and can check to see if it lists what years that part# is compatible with.
Interesting, they kept the original part number, added a rain sock and bumped the price $20. I figured adding the sock would have required a new part number. Wonder how many people bought one after the price increase but didn't get their rain sock?
Here's the pic I promised. It's as good as I can do tonight. There is ample room for my leg, granted I'm pretty short (32" inseam). That's at least 4" between the elbow and my leg in the pic. You can see the rear breather bolt mount so that will give you an idea how much more forward the unit sits compared to the stock ham can.
i have the pro heavy breather on my 05 rg...there is no issue for me nor other users in my area with leg room problems or crowding with this a/c...mine did not come with a rain sock...original price when this first came out $279.99...$20.00 extra for the rain sock...i actually bought mine on ebay new w/o rainsock from surdyke hd for$240 shipped to my home...shop around for a good price this breather is pretty awesomeimo...also, when exposed to the sun the filter will fade rather quickly from red to a brownish color fyi...i keep my rainsock on all the time as it hides the discoloration and does not affect theoperation at all as far as i can tell
OK so this might be a dumb question, but what do they mean when they say "not street legal"? Does that mean it voids some warrentee if you are caught on the road with it. LOL Or can I get a ticket from the LAW for having it on my bike. Seriously what does that mean?
I don't mean to be off topic here, but why did the size of the throttle body change? Is the performance of the '08 96" better in any way due to the change?
