Does anyone know physically what is the differance between 08 rotors and 07 rotors?
I see they have a new part# for 08 on the front but I don't see any new #'s for the rear did they do anything differant on the rear?
The 2008 Touring models have a semi floating rotor to reduce brake chatter and increase brake pad longevity. The size has been slightly increased to a 300 mm diameter. The Softails and Sportsters still run the same rotors as in the past. The reason for the new rotor on the touring models is for both the new calipers and the option of anti-lock brakes. Hope this helps!
As stated before, 300mm. as far as sime floating, can someone please try to move these rotors side to side. If they move, than they are floaters. That is what floating rotors do is float. Now if they don't move are are hard attached they are just 2 piece rotors. Floating rotors are used when brake rotors get hot and are allowed to move in between the pads. A very good thing. You be the judge. This is a photo I took @ Phil Petersons HD, N. Miami, FL
