Americade
If you are a party monster and want to yell "show me your #**#" it is not great. If you truly love motorcycles and GREATTTTTTT rides---don't miss it. I always go the first 2 days to avoid the crowds and cruise the vendor areas as well as enjoy some spectacular riding. Have gone for last 6 years and there are loads of Harleys and great fun. My hotel was only $85.00 per nite last year prior to that I just camped. BMW has a large prescence, but the Harley scene is much bigger. The only down sideare the "Noise Patrols". They have cops around and some are ticket happy if you have REALLY loud pipes. It is really some of the best riding in the east. If any are going, let me know and we can hook up for a few cold ones and watch the scenery. You won't be disappointed.

Went to Americade this year for the first time to ride the Harley's which is free - other makes it cost $20.00 just to get in. I went on Wednesday and Thursday for the Harley demo rides for the shorter lines. Found out I didn't want a dyna or softail, but the touring SG was the one for me. I liked the 1200N too - shhhh don't tell anyone.
Also, I stayed at a camp site just north of all the events and the only problem was the pollen from the trees on a black bike.

I've been there a few times...and I'll echo what everyone else is saying....
Great time, the events are well organized, the riding is TOP Notch...especially the longer rides that go into Vermont.
The bar/strip scene has been getting better...the last few years, at night a crowd gathers at a few of the bars across from the big hotel with the HD demo area...the names escape me right now...but it's fun to people watch from there....The Lobster Pot, DJ's....(I think that's them)

Can anyone tell me about their experience at Americade in Lake George, NY?
I'm trying to talk some friends of mine in going with me. It will be our first experience. I know they read this forum.
If you think it will be a good expereince, can you help me shame them into it by sharing?

Been twice to Americade. I really like that for the most part its very tame. Yea on Canada St it can get quite loud and tough to get through, but honestly its some of the best riding around.
Here are my thoughts.
Buy the Alacart (spelling) package. If your going witha group of friends. The group rides IMHO are BS not well orginized and way too many NON group riding so called bikers that take these and you end up missing some of the great scenes because your watching the idiot in front of you weave side to side.
Take your own rides. Get a map get lost and find your way home. A GPS works great also
The vendor area is well worth the $20 for unlimited entry. You wont walk out emty handed.
If you enjoy camping there are many nice campgrounds within 15 min driving time to the events.
Lodging gets very expensive as Lake George Prices sky rocket for this event. Book now because everything seems to fill.
Bring plenty of "all weather clothing" Last year I saw ICE, Rain, 80 degrees and 40 degrees. Welcome to the North East.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the weather....constantly changing to say the least...but anytime you're at a higher elevation that happens....Like CTmedic says, be prepared for all weather conditions.
Americade is a great time, regardless of what you ride. I've been to all the major events except Sturgis, and Americade ranks up there. All manufacturers, all vendors, just about anything and everything you can want or need is on display and for sale there. PLUS -- great rides through the mountains (i strongly suggest riding around - Lake Placid isn't too far) and awesome restaurants -- the Log Jam is great.
